Makeup makes the difference!
It's almost time for your upcoming photo session and a concern for many is how should I do my makeup. Should I hire a makeup artist or do I do my own? Does a makeup artist really make a difference? The short answer....Yes! A makeup artist can help in various ways on the day of your photoshoot. How you may ask?
First, makeup can be very stressful for some. At Puddles and Pearls our goal is to remove that stress from your upcoming day. When booking with us, we want to take this stress off your hands and start your session off by pampering you! We want you to come in, relax and enjoy the process. When you feel beautiful and feel your best, you will naturally feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Our goal is to make all of our clients feel incredible while at the studio.
Second, makeup for photography differs from your every day makeup. Certain brands and types of makeup look different under the lights of the camera. We know exactly what will look good. We can not only help make your best facial features pop but can also help hide any flaws that you may struggle with. Makeup can be an amazing thing but also can be very scary or turn horribly wrong. If you don't have a lot of experience with makeup, it can be hard choosing the right foundation shades and colors that may look good with your skin tones. Makeup artists know exactly how to match your skin tones, and how to properly blend out your makeup so that it doesn't look caked on or show harsh lines. When it comes to makeup for photography, makeup needs to be a little more heavier than your everyday look. Camera lights can be very harsh and tends to wash out the face. To help photographers from having to do a lot of editing, a makeup artist can eliminate those extra steps with the right amount of makeup. Makeup artists can create more of a dramatic look without looking over done. Makeup artist know how to highlight, brighten, and contour in the correct spots making your facial features really pop in your portraits in a beautiful way.
The best part....when booking at Puddles and Pearls Photography, makeup for your session is included! On your special day, its time to relax and let someone else do the work. You are already investing in professional portraits so go ahead and invest in makeup and look your best!
Here is a few ways you can prep before your makeup session...
1. Try and prep your skin about a week or so before. It is important to wash your face routinely. Morning and night is best.
2. Gently exfoliate 2-3 times a week to help remove dead skin cells. This will have your skin to look smooth and flawless for your makeup application
3. Don't pick! I know its tempting but don't pick and pop blemishes. This can damage then skin as well as cause inflammation to the area. Picking can also lead to spreading bacteria in other areas of the face.
4. Hydrate! It is so important for our skin to stay hydrated.
5. Wear sunscreen daily! Even if we are not directly tanning in the sun, the sun rays are still hitting our bodies. It is important to wear a light sunscreen daily. This will help our skin from damage and wrinkles.
6. If you are wanting light hair styling during your session, come with clean and dry hair. Oily hair can be harder to hold style and can appear greasy.
